Matthew Bryant

Matthew Bryant is a partner of Bryant Legal, LLC, which focuses on employee-side representation and litigation in Ohio, with offices in Toledo and Columbus, Ohio.

 

As of January 1, 2022, Matt became a Certified Specialist in Labor and Employment Law through the Ohio State Bar Association (“OSBA”), a distinction accredited by the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Certification of Specialists, for expertise substantiated by the passage of a written examination, a high level of involvement in the specialty area, fulfillment of ongoing educational requirements, and positive evaluations by other attorneys familiar with Matt’s work. As such, he has spoken before the Toledo Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Committee and the Worker’s Compensation Committee, and he has been invited to speak before a nationwide firm on developments in employment law.

  • Representation of a former executive in a case of disability discrimination and other claims, resulting in a seven-figure settlement for the employee, as well as a release of restrictive covenants and other non-economic relief.
  • Negotiation of a six-figure severance package for a former executive, as related to claims of wrongful termination, breach of contract, trade secrets, and related claims.
  • Securing a six-figure settlement for an individual who alleged disability discrimination, failure to accommodate, and retaliation for exercising FMLA rights against a public university.
  • Representation of individuals who experienced race discrimination and retaliation by an automobile manufacturer, resulting in six-figure settlements to the impacted employees.
  • Representation of an individual discriminated against based on disability and for exercising rights under ERISA, resulting in a six-figure settlement for the employee, by a healthcare provider.
  • Overcoming a motion for summary judgment for an individual who claimed age discrimination and retaliation by a former employer, resulting in a six-figure settlement to the employee from the former employer, a healthcare provider.
  • Representation of individuals in cases of unpaid overtime, resulting in six-figure settlements, on behalf of a class of employees.
  • Securing a six-figure settlement on behalf of an employee discriminated against based on race after a probable cause finding of discrimination through the Ohio Civil Rights Commission.

 

Matt is also active in the community. He previously served as co-chair for the Young Lawyers Committee, as Secretary for the Bankruptcy Committee, and as Secretary for the Membership Committee at the Toledo Bar Association. He recently also completed his co-presidency of the Junior Bar Association, a legal tradition in Toledo.
